The Keywords filter in Tagger's Discovery Platform

Updated over a week ago

Use keywords, hashtags, mentions, and phrases (KHMP) to search for Profiles within Discovery. The keywords filter lets users include or exclude specific KHMPs, set dates a date range to search for HKMPs, and even select the particular social platform the KHMPs reside within.

To view Keyword filters, navigate to Discovery, then select "Keywords."

Keywords, #Hashtags, @Mentions, Phrases

Keywords, hashtags, mentions, and phrases are defined below:

  • Keywords: Search for multiple keywords using this filter. First, type the desired keyword, then hit enter. To search for another keyword, repeat this process.

  • #Hashtags: A word or phrase typed without a space after using "#" creates a hashtag.

    • Please note, do not include a space within the hashtag; spaces indicate the end of the hashtag.

  • Profile Mentions: Any mention of another Profile's handle preceded by "@" tags that particular Profile. Search for any Profile Mentions within Discovery using that same methodology.

    • Please note that Tagger recommends searching for mentions using the Profile Mentions search bar, located toward the bottom of the Keywords filter menu.

  • Phrases: Type in the desired multi-word phrase, then click enter.

    • Please note that searching for phrases scans for consecutive word usage, meaning that the entire phrase needs to be present in a post in the same order as in the search box.

Include

All values added to the Include field will include the input values, whether in the context of a Profile's bio or the Profile's content.

Exclude

Any values keyed into this filter will exclude the added values. In the screenshot above, the user searches for "#Athlete." In the screenshot below, results include "#Athlete," but only if the Profiles do not contain the word "#wrestle."

🔹 Tagger Tip 🔹

Each of these filters can be used as a stand-alone tool or in tandem with the other filters.

Date Range

Select from several pre-determined date ranges to search for keywords, hashtags, mentions, or phrases that occurred between the selected dates.

Please note that filtering by date range is only available when values are entered into the "Include" or "Exclude" fields and "Source" is set to "All" or "Content."

Source

Select the desired data sources to pull the KHMPs. There are three options:

  • Bio: Search results show data drawn from Profiles' Biographies.

  • Content: Search results include all pieces of content from the Creator's attached social handles.

  • All: Search results pull from Profile bios as well as Creator content.

Search Options

Use the Search Options dropdown menu to enhance your search by applying an "OR" or an "AND" command.

OR Command

Selecting "OR (Broaden)" within the Keywords Filter expands the search to include any keywords, hashtags, Profile mentions, or phrases typed into "Include."

The screen below uses an OR command for the keywords "#Athlete" and "running." This search scans all Profiles that have used the hashtag "#Athlete" OR "running" in their content over the last year.

AND Command

Selecting "AND (Narrow)" within the Keywords Filter will limit the search to include any number of keywords, hashtags, Profile mentions, or phrases typed into "Include."

The screenshot below shows an AND command executed for the keywords "#Athelete" and "running." This search scans Profiles that have used the keywords "#athlete" AND "running" in their content over the past year.

Please note that the OR command returns more results than the AND command. It is best to think of the AND command as an extra filter the results need to funnel through to make it to the Discovery results.

Platform

Users can filter search results by selecting the social platform to pull the search results, including:

  • Instagram

  • Twitter

  • YouTube

  • Facebook

  • TikTok

The screenshot below showcases a search for the phrase "#athlete" across Instagram accounts.

Profile Mentions

Search for Profiles based on mentions made about the target Profile. There are two fields within the Profile Mentions filter: "See who mentions the Profiles entered below" and "Exclude who mentions the Profiles entered below."

Tagger pulls Profile mentions based on the social accounts linked to a specific Tagger Profile, ensuring that Creators and brands with different handles across social accounts appear in searches.

Publication Date

Select a start and end date for Tagger to look for mentions between.

Relevance Rank

Tagger's Discovery solution displays search results by Relevance Rank, or how relevant Tagger deems the Profile to the applied search filters.

Relevance Rank is calculated by using the Rate of Relevance and the location of the signal. Relevance Rank refers to how often the signals (keywords, hashtags, Profile mentions, or phrases) appear in relation to the number of posts that the Profile has made.

The next factor is whether Tagger finds the specific hashtag, keyword, Profile mention, or phrase in the Creator's bio or content. If the value is in the context of a Profile's bio, this carries more weight than if the value occurs on the content level.
