Instagram Hidden Likes
Updated over a week ago

Due to API restrictions, when Creators choose to hide their likes from the audience, some metrics available on Tagger Profiles may seem skewed. This happens because Tagger performs the engagement rate calculation without including the hidden count of likes. When the engagement rate is calculated for a Creator that hides their likes, the calculation will only consider comments, resulting in a lower engagement rate number.

If a Creator hides their likes on Instagram posts, indicators will appear on their Tagger Profiles in the following locations:

Overview Tab

Within the Social Platforms section of the Overview tab, a banner will appear on the Instagram card.

Analytics Tab - Content Health Section

Within the Analytics tab of a Tagger Profile, select Content Health ; a banner will appear if a Creator has hidden likes.

Post Modal

You can also see whether the creator has turned on Hidden Likes on each piece of their Instagram Content:

This badge, presented at the top of the right pane of the popup, can help you understand any abnormalities in Engagement Rate.

Hidden Likes on Instagram

On Instagram, Creators can hide Likes and View counts in two different ways: on all of their feed posts or on specific pre-selected posts. When Creators hide their Likes and View counts, only they will be able to see those metrics. None of their audience and/or partners will be able to see this data, regardless of accessing it through the official API or not. Instagram created this feature to give people more control over their experience.

Hide Likes for all feed posts

Creators can hide the number of likes and views on all posts that appear in their feed by turning on the "Hide Like and View Counts" within their Instagram account settings.

Hide Likes for specific pre-selected posts

Creators can hide the number of likes and view counts on specific pre-selected feed posts. To do so, before hitting "Share" to post to their feed, Creators can go through "Advanced settings" and turn on "Hide like and view counts on this post".
